  First Dates

Ryan and Kim met the first time in the Fall of 2000 at the beginning of Kim's freshman year at RIT. Ryan lived catty-corner to Kim's twin sister Sarah in the Computer Science House at R.I.T. Our first meeting was a game of Uno at CSH (we both love board/card games!).

We didn't really spend too much time together until the Spring of 2001, when we went to The Grind a few times, went to see A Night's Tale and took a trip to Toronto (Second City, Al Friscos - now Friscos).

Our first 'date' was before the beginning of Summer quarter at RIT. Ryan thought it was a date - Kim didn't realize it was a date, but, as you can guess, Kim was happy with the idea that Ryan thought it was a date. Anyway, we went to the Macaroni Grill on Jefferson Road and had a wonderful meal accompanied by a not so wonderful Kindergarten teacher waitress (feel free to ask for stories). The rest of the 'date' was somewhat utilitarian - Ryan needed furniture for his new apartment, so Kim and Ryan went to a well-known office supply store to pick up a desk. It was that night that the store re-inforced itself as a true contender for the top spot in Ryan's list of companies with the worst customer service. But, after overcoming the laziness and drug addictions of the sales clerk, Ryan and Kim went back to Ryan's apartment and put together a desk and played a few games of Othello. Weird first date, eh?

The rest of the summer of 2001 was lot's of fun for both Ryan and Kim. They experimented with cooking and Kim burnt herself with some hot peppers. They also went camping a bunch and took a trip to New York City to see Cabaret and do touristy things.

There's lots more to the story, but, for now, we're going to skip all the way to the Engagement.
